You can do it without pulling the engine. I just did mine last week.

Might be a dumb question but don't know why that third rocker is adjusted so far out,
did you adjust the rockers with the cam lobes away from the rockers? |

Yes, valve lash is properly adjusted. I figured this was what happened as the valve starts self destructing. |
