Default G9 starter generator diagnosed

Just a factoid post. Bought a used 95 G9 a few weeks ago and been working through the bugs and miscellaneous previous owner fixes. Battery died and was going through the trouble shooting techniques provided by this forum and determined s/g was not charging. In the process I noticed the reverse buzzer was disconnected at the fnr switch so hooked it back up. Now the fun. I started the cart again to test some things and when I took my foot off the pedal it kept running. Uh WTH? Turned the key off. Still running. Hmm. Disconnected the reverse buzzer and it shuts off. Hmm. Another wiring gremlin. Back to the s/g. Checked the impedance and got 5-5.5 ohms. That's good. Checked to make sure there was conductivity on green from the s/g to the vr, yep. R/w wire good too. Checked the only wire left on the vr which is ground. Nope. Tried to chase it through the harness but didn't feel like ripping the other end of the harness apart so ran a jumper from the battery negative to that circuit and fired it up. Ran it about half throttle and checked voltage. 13.8 YAY!! Charging now so thought hmm. Wonder if that's what was up with the buzzer so hooked it back up. It now works

As for the running before with the key off only thing I can figure is it was back feeding through the reverse buzzer to provide power to the solenoid because there was no ground to the buzzer. Makes me wonder if I should install a diode in the main power circuit. Thoughts?
