Death of an F&R switch
So I got this Forward and Reverse switch sent to me today. You can see the switch is burnt up. Discoloring of the copper bars was caused by high heat. Google says copper changes color at nearly 400º.
I used paint to outline the bar and the deepest part of the round contact burn mark to show what happens when the F&R is not fully engaged. Partial contact caused the meltdown. Hope this helps somebody understand why all rotary F&R levers MUST be moved until they hit the full stop to make full contact. See pics |

So, the switch is stiff. BUT when moving the arm back and forth it appears the mounting bracket flexes, causing it to feel like it doesn’t come to a stop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
