Default Bad Boy Buggie Parts Source

Hi, I'm new here so I apologize if this is not the right place to put this question.
I have a 2007 Bad Boy Buggy in need of a motor controller. Although it is 2 years old it only has about 50 hours "very easy" hours on it. The motor controller went out and BBs cost is $1,000. Obviously I'm not impressed with their service.
Is there another source for the BB parts other than BB themself? Their prices are pretty steep! Thanks for the help.

You will need to go back with the same controller - You have a BB Buggy - You're not going to find a cheap parts source...

Navitas is the controller manufacturer. DSE1000 is the OEM controller model number . A TSE1000 is the manufacturer model number. You can't use a different type controller like an Alltrax without completely re-wring the whole thing. Not a simple task because of the dual motors. I just happen to have DSE1000 sitting here right in front of me. (Big nasty GREEN controller)

I'm not even sure if an Alltrax will handle BOTH motors. The TSE is a 1000 amp controller. Kelly controller makes some high am controllers but you'd still have to re-wire the whole thing.

"IF" you happen to buy a new DSE or TSE you will also need the programmer to set the controller up. Thats another $400. You MIGHT be able to get someone to set it up for you.

http://navitastechnologies.com/wound.html There are companies who can rebuild them but rebuilt controllers don't have a good reputation. The controller used to be under a different name. Something like SRE325...aka SRE controls.

So, if I buy a new controller it has to be programmed?
Is it common for these controllers to fail this fast? Can they be repaired?

If you buy a controller from Navitas it has to be set up. (yes, you have to program it) Things like throttle type, safety interlocks, feild weakening etc have to be either turned off, on or ujust set up. If you buy it from a Bad boy dealer I'm sure they will have it set up when you get it.

I have read that the navitas is pretty bullet proof....this is actually the first one I have heard go bad. Are you SURE its the controller?

This is a time where it might be best to visit a BBBuggy dealership with a service department...

It does sound like Roady89 has a controller you need, though?

It's at a BB dealer. After 4 weeks they tell me the "controller" is bad and has to be replaced. I'm just checking my options. it sounds like it may be more of a job than I can do myself. I could change it out but I have no idea how to program a controller.
Again, this buggy has less than 50 hours on it in 2 years. I would think a controller should last longer than that. What makes this device go bad? Thanks for the help.

Yep, I'm suprised Bad Boy was selling their controller for $1000 when the factory is $1200
