Default F&R switch question?

On my 84 marathon,is the swich rebuildable. Can this be bought as a direct replacement unit? When I start and stop alot, The cart won't start. Can slap the panel under my legs, and it will start. Would this direction switch cause this? Please help! Very FRUSTRATING!!!

sounds to me like a loose wire.
i dont think the F/R switch would cause that, have you checked all the connections coming in to the switch?

What a pain! I checked and cleaned every connection on the whole cart. Same problem. Gets hot, won't start unless I tap the panel down where the coil is located. Checked the pulse(152ohm across red and black). Regulator checked good also. Checked across the orange and green on the coil(4.2ohm). My geuss is the coil, but felt it when this happened and it was cool to the touch. Somebody have any suggestions?

Check your Key Switch if the metal prongs are loose.

Sounds like the solenoid is getting a condition called "heat soak".

I had the same problem two days ago. Drove me nuts, would start once and awhile.
I would tap the area around the key and reverse switch and off it would go. I also check all my connections and then decided to take compressed air and blow out the switches behind all the wires. My problem was just a lot of dust on my switches. Works perfect now. Worth a try.
