2pg muffler
When I bought my '88 it had a pre '88 muffler can on it and still does. Will this affect performance vs. the 1988 only muffler? It seemed really sluggish so I took it off today to roast it and realized something is broken loose inside of it. Obviously that's a problem in itself, but if I can weld whatever is loose back into place will this muffler still be an issue for my cart? Ultimately I would like to get the correct one for the cart but I can't justify a new one at $200+ since I'm going to convert to a bigger motor at some point. Does anybody have one they want to part with?

Re: 2pg muffler
How was it mounted? The 88 is the only one that feeds into the top of the can. Gotta pic?

Re: 2pg muffler
You are correct it is the only one to feed into the top but the mounting bracket position moves the inlet from the side to the top or the other way around. Now that's not to say that mine hasn't had a pre '88 manifold pipe put on it since this is the setup that was on it when I got it. I can't seem to find a pic of a 1988 to compare mine to. I'll try to get a couple pics later this afternoon.

Re: 2pg muffler
Thanks for the pic. Mine definitely has the older style can and possibly a different head pipe. I cut a hole in the bottom of it Saturday and pulled out a few broken rusty baffle pieces. Just have to put a couple welds on it and see what happens. It was definitely causing a blockage on the tail pipe
