Default 1999 yamaha G16A Smoking after gas in oil

Our golfcar has been great, we got it in 2005 and used it on our farm for year as a utility vehicle, pulling a small trailer and moving boats, last couple of years its been unreliable, my father put a gravity feed tank on it since the fuel pump went out, it also was hard to start and wouldnt run some days, it sat all winter and then wouldnt start at all the spring, come to find out it was pumping gassy oil in the intake via the ohv cover tube, the float stuck and filled the crank case full of gas, the fuel tank should have had been drained of fuel, so i flushed out the crank case and filled it with fresh oil, i cleaned the carb and found lots of debris, after i reassembled it it ran strong but smoked like freight train, it wasnt exactly a blue smoke, it has 150psi compression, i am thinking the muffler is full of the gassy oil from were we tried to start it for quiet a bit, any help is greatly appreciated.

Your diagnoses is correct. You can let it run for a half hour or so and it should burn out and quit smoking. Watch out as I've had a few of my fleet carts do the same and they have a tendency to have the same sticky float or dirty needle valve and fill the crankcase again.
