Default New Here, EZGO w/75lbs Compression

Im new t this forum and have been reading a lot of posts on here,
this site contains a huge deal of information on it! with out going through
all the posts, i have a 1984 EZ-GO gas cart. enigine tag says c25-2pg 244 84-0948

i had this cart given to me and i had some questions.

when i compression checked it, it had around 35 lbs, then i took the air filter
assebly out and it kicked it around 65 lbs...so i unbolted the exhaust and that gave me 75lbs...

i puleed the engine out and cleaned it up this morning and took the top part off to see if it had a busted ring and it didnt, the rings are pretty thin in spots but not broken, is that enough to loss that much compression? or should i be looking else where for a problem?
