Of course i order a coil from a local cart guy, it gets delivered and it says use with external resistor on it. My understanding is that this will work but it’ll burn out my points? Is the process for adding a resister difficult? Are they hard to find?

I know that this is an older post but resistors are simple to find and to install. Do an internet search for "ballast resistor" and you will find some hits. Check out the "HEI conversion" threads on top of the Columbia section for more information about they get wired in. They are simple to install.
