95 Ezgo TXT... Bad news :-(
So we got our first cart for a decent deal (or so we thought) $500 with a 295. Was having a fuel issue. Carb was dirty and fuel pump was bad. Replaced those and it ran, no knocks but very sluggish wouldnt go over a few MPG but seemed to run ok in nuetral.
So today we lashed the valves to .005" and got a compression tester. Thew it on the first cylinder and it was 0. We figured it was the gauge so we tried the next cylinder and it was 140. Crap. So we put a small screw driver in the plug hole and spun it over by hand. Nothing. We could feel the piston but no movement. Pulled the motor out today pulled the head. The piston isn't moving anywhere. What chould be going on? Blown rod? It doesnt knock and has oil pressure when we had the valve cover off and turned it over it shot oil up 2 feet in the air. Dont see any holes in the crankcase. Tried tapping the piston with a rubber mallet lightly and its not moving. We are trying to find a 3/4 bolt to remove the clutch to tear down the bottom end. Any tips or tricks on dissasembly? Things to look out for? I have been researching like crazy but cant find any dissasembly videos. Thanks in advance, kinda bummed |

May not be so bad, you can find 295s for sale on Craigslist an eBay all the time for under $500 (of coarse you don't really know the history of the engine so make sure you get a guarantee it works), so for under $1000 you could have a good cart. If everything else on your cart is good, that's not a bad investment.

Ok so far we have the motor out, the clutch is stuck on there pretty good. We tried the grease trick but so far no luck. We found out the bolt on a Mopar big block balancer is 3/4"-16 thread buts its only 1.5" long or so. Guess we need to keep packing it with grease.

Re: 95 Ezgo TXT... Bad news :-(
I bought a cart years back with the same problem. Was a broken rod. Paid a guy $700 to fix it and it lasted about 6 months then I broke the new rod. I downloaded the manual and bought the parts and fixed it myself for a few hundred bucks... but 3 months later is broke that one too... the rod seemed to be seizing to the crank. I was told that the crank was the problem, that the journal was damaged causing the the rod to seize. A new crank was more than I wanted to pay, so I gave up and did a clone swap. never been happier.
