In Alabama that would be a slam dunk for damages etc, plus all your out of pocket expense. Logger would be liable also, he is supposed to survey property line.

Most of plumquick's motors are compatible with stock controllers. Alternatively EMP can make one compatible with stock with room for a later controller upgrade. However, I would also recommend upgrading both at once if possible.
