Default Ignition Coil - I goofed

Got my new ignition coil for G9 today.

Its all kinds of wrong.

The original is about 1 inch wider than the new one.

I ordered from ebay:
For Yamaha Golf Cart Ignition Coil G9 J38-82310-20-00 Replacement EPIGC105

What should I have ordered?

You sure it's new? If the terminals fit, try it.

It won't reach between the housing mounts-- its too short.

It looks new and was ordered as 'new' product.

A real Yamaha, you will soon anyway... They are pricy but you will have no choice!

Waiting for mine I ordered from US, I installed one of those meanwhile and... they are absolutely not reliable.

I appreciate I need a 'real yamaha part'

How did you decide which of the parts were 'real' and which to not buy?

The part number is correct for what I bought, but obviously the part is not correct.

Order the real one. In the meanwhile I would snug this one down real good on one side and try it.

Concerning ignition coils, I have seen so many people trying "no brand" units and, at the end, had to purchase an OEM. It is even full of such messages in these forums! They are parts we can go aftermarket, and we all do, but never about such parts.

On eBay, the sellers must indicate the brand and, in your case, it is clearly not Yamaha brand but EPI. Perhaps they are good, but for 10$ more, I would have gone for an OEM for sure.

When I need Yamaha parts, I usually use boats.net, they are not sponsor but carry only brands (Yamaha, Suzuki, etc...) at the best price I ever found.

Now as said, you will see and hopefully it will work for a while, except according to the picture, it looks the gap between the fixation is not the same

The word FOR was your clue it wasn't real. And the real item part number at the end is another hint too (EPIGC105 is clearly not a Yamaha part number).

It use to be price, the junk stuff was really low price, that's how you knew it wasn't OEM,
Now they have gotten smart and brought the price up to being close, to OEM price.
Carburetors seem to be the only thing that you can buy the junk for 20 bucks.
Buy legit OEM and problem solved for the next 10 years
