Got the motor out, lots of pieces fell out with it. Does this still look like a good candidate for a local rebuild place or should I send it off to one of the golf cart specific places. I was looking online, the plum quick bandit at $225 doesn't seem like a bad deal, any thoughts?

****, that is smoked. Personally I would go for the $225 motor. I am not sure how much a rebuild would cost but it could certainly be done if all the steel parts are intact (they would replace the copper wire).

Also if anyone reading this has a stock motor laying around they want to get rid of I am definitely interested in that option.

I have a stock 2007 motor. Ran fine. Just put in a D&D. I'd sell it for a $100 plus shipping. In in Michigan. 49696.

Well i got the new(used) motor from freckles installed and still no go. I jumper tested the motor and it is good so that is not the problem.

When my original motor went out could something else have happened at the same time, could it have burned up the controller too? Any suggestions on what to check next are appreciated, this is aggravating.

Yes it could have damaged the controller. You can use the FSIP troubleshooting list as a start

Motor failure often takes out the controller.
