Default Bought a Tig Welder

Was looking for a "next project"
Found a Tig set up used for $150
Could not pass it up... Been welding since I was a kid. Never had the opportunity to learn Tig and always wanted to. Should be fun...
Only thing I don't like is this one will not do Aluminum...
So learn the process and then look to upgrade.

I don't know what machine you have, but most (if not all) TIG welders can be used for Aluminum. the only changes to the machine settings are swapping the positive and negative terminals and use 100% Argon gas, instead of the standard 75/25 Argon/Co2 gas used for steel. you can also use an Argon/Helium mix up to 50% but the Helium is getting pretty expensive.

This one is DC only.
Yes it will do Aluminum, but much harder to get proper results.
AC is preferred.

For best results doing aluminum, you really should have a high frequency machine.

Yes, The goal here is to learn the basics before spending ^^$$^^
on a good "do all" machine...
This one fell in my lap for $150. Some basic supplies will be another $30 or $40. I already have bottles for my Mig.
I figure I will work with some scrap around the garage and get the process down. If I like it and can make "Pretty Welds" I will invest in a good unit.
This is something I have always wanted to do and never had the chance.
Machines have come an awful long way in my time. I remember when this type of welding was called Heliarc, not Tig and it has always been very Expensive to get into.
