harley cart wont run in rev.

working on 76 model i think motor runs fine in rev.but will not start in forward .has good compression 95lb has power to the coil.driving me crazy

Check forward timing to start with.

ok thanks i will do that to night . but it was running fine at the camp ground someone used it an just stop running in forward

yes it turns over in forward but not as fast. checked timing. the plate is turnd as far right as possable. soi centerd the timing plate set points it still runs in rev. but not in forward. i will try new set points to night the spark is weak.maybe that it.

should be a mark on the plate and housing that were factory settings try setting on them and see what happens

Does it have a spark to the plug? Does it have fuel to the cylinder?

Does it run in reverse? It should turn faster in reverse than forward!

If you have a spark to the plug, remove the plug put a little gas mixture in the cylinder and replace the plug and wire then see if it will try to start. If it tries to start then you have a fuel delivery problem.

hi tew45 yes it runs fine in rev. i set the timing and replace points & condencer. like i siad it run fine in rev. so it is geting gas in rev why not in forward turns over but wont start. dosnot make sence to me?

You have to time it in forward and reverse. Have you set the timing in forward as well?
