Default Lifted Cart Swaying

Whenever we have 4 people on the cart it seems to sway pretty bad. Any recommendation on how we can solve this. The Air shocks seems to help but still annoying at times

if you're lifted and have larger tires like 22's on there, you're likely experiencing sidewall flex under a load such as 4 people provide ... A lot of the lift kit / tire combos out there include pretty low quality tires with very flexible sidewalls - I know, I had that trouble too. I swapped out to a heavy-duty ATV tire with 4ply sidewalls and it's amaxing how much stability I gained (especially at full tilt on the straights and while cornering fast).

Increasing your tire pressure will *help* but not eliminate the problem, albeit at the cost of a stiffer ride

Thats a good point. I have 22's although not sure of the quality of the tire or ply. I am going to take a look at the tires.

if the sidewalls are single-ply (which the bulk of the "kit" tires are) that's contributing BIG TIME, especially with 4 people on the cart. I bought my tires through Dennis Kirk and actually found a set on clearance that ended up costing me a little LESS than the cheapies (I want to say they were right around $34 each)

So I checked the tires and they are 4ply. Any other thoughts is there some type of sway bar we can purchase?

Just for a thought you may have a miss alinement in the front of the cart not enough pos. caster and possible toe in adjustment This has been reported on some lifted carts. Start with 4-5 deg. pos. caster that would be top of king pin toward the driver or ball joint and 1/16 - 1/8 toe in front of tires toed in this amount as opposed to the rear. Just a check but worth the time to check it as it can make it nasty to drive. GOOD LUCK

Thanks for that info.

The cart is a 97 EZGO TXT 295cc. Not sure the brand of the lift as it was already on the cart when I purchased it.

Chonch, the tires may say 4-ply right on them but the sidewalls often aren't - best to look up the tire by model, etc on the manufacturers site to be sure - a lot of the kits out there actually tout their tires as 2 or 4 ply and "omit" the fact that the sidewalls are single (multi-ply sidewalls are generally reserved for heavy-duty ATV use, racing, etc).

And yes, the toe-in can definitely affect front end stability at speed, I thought that was MY trouble before I gave up and got the better tires, actually - the toe will cause the cart to be "squirrelly" when you drive it fast, if that desription makes sense, a slow roll or sway is more indicative of weak sidewalls (hope that clarifies a bit)
