Default 89 shorter belt

want to put a shorter belt on the 89 marathon. read the sticky on shorter belts and am confused. someone said to use the g1 belt, another pn# 1339. another talked about a 39 3/4 by 1 1/5 belt the original is 41" long. anyone who has done this can you straighten me out?

the best way to be sure (as there are several stock sizes on Marathons) is to measure the existing belt and hit the list of Dayco belts at NAPA, grab one that's an inch shorter and there you go

don't know where ruredy went, but where is a good man when you need one?

Looking through the belt info on one of the sponsor sites, your belt is 1 3/16 X 41",
The Yamaha G1 belt is 36 3/8 long so it's too short.
the Yami G2 thru 22s belts are 39" and you will need a prybar to get it on.
The 91 to 93 Ezgo belt is 40 3/4 and I don't think you will gain any noticable improvement.

I would suggest looking at maybe pulling your engine and redrilling the 4 mounting holes 1/2" forward?
That will give you the same as a 1" shorter belt with the stock belt.
I did this to a G16 and it worked like a champ.

Madoc, did you really mean 1 13/16th wide? All the EZGO belts I have seen are 1 3/16th wide.
