Generator wiring on clone
On yamaha generator could someone explain how to wire. I'm using it on a project that has no wiring. I want to wire this as a foot pedal start. I understand I will need micro switch on pedal and on f&r. But don't understand generator and starter.
Thanks Ed |

Re: Generator wiring on clone
Look in the yamaha section there is a sticky at top with a link to the wiring diagram. More or less the small wires out the side are for charging. The other wires are for starting with the large cables and the solenoid that runs off the pedal. It has to be a continuous duty solenoid. The key simply interrupts power to the pedal switch so it can't run the solenoid. Power from pedal switch also runs the ignition. If you run a clone with a lawn type mag ignition you need a bosch relay to ground the ignition to kill it when you let off the pedal, wire it to kill it all the time but not when powered from pedal. They are cheap on amazon for the relay and wired plug like >$4 each. With a magneto you don't need to power the ignition. For a 4 stroke use a G2 or higher diagram, the G1 had a 2 stroke that runs forward and reverse so it has two solenoids.
