G1 wont go forward or reverse

New to gas carts . I have a 81 G 1 . It will "run" but won't go , forward or reverse .What do I do ?What do I hear "running " is that the motor or something else ? Please help

It is the starter generator, check that the engine is turng over.
If it is check for fuel and spark.

Lift the body up. It tilts back. Push the gas pedal and it will turn the starter/generator. There is a fan belt that connects the starter to the clutch. It should be turning the engine over when the gas pedal is pushed.

That sounds normal. Was this cart running before? Could be a loose or disconnected wire. Could be a fuel delivery problem. Could be an ignition problem. Are you familiar with small engines at all?

The drive belt will not move until the engine is started.

I was told it was running . There was no battery in it when I got it .I have not worked on small engines before . What wires should I check ? I will check fuel delivery today . Thanks for all the help so far .

the 81 wiring diagrams are here they are in PDF format,and take them up to about 300% in size.
