G1 changing Ramp shoes
Can the Ramp Shoes be changed on the secondary (driven) clutch without disassembling the clutch on a G1 cart??

Re: G1 changing Ramp shoes
I have done it before. It takes some patience. You may have to widdle down the studs a little bit and put a little bit of grease on them to get them into the ramp. They always seem to large. If you tap on them to hard they will break.

Re: G1 changing Ramp shoes
When I did mine, I broke 3 before I decided to oversize the holes slightly. I just started as small as I could, checked the fit, redrilled, repeat until the new ramps fit with just a small amount of drag as you install them. Still in there to this day....2.5 years later.

Ah, OK, so you re-drilled the holes rather than filing the new shoes to fit the existing holes?

Re: G1 changing Ramp shoes
Yes I was afraid of weakening the ramps. I didn't have to drill much, very very little in fact. Almost like it was casting flash or something? But it only took a few minutes once I figured out which bit to use. I started with the smallest size I could, then worked my way up. The bits I have are for drilling/tapping and they are numbered according to their size, so it was very easy to get it just right without removing too much material.

Re: G1 changing Ramp shoes
Thank you. You don't happen to recall what size of bit it was??
How about knocking the old shoes out? |

Re: G1 changing Ramp shoes
No I don't recall, sorry. Once you have the old ramps out it should be easy to size up though. I just knocked the old one's out with a punch.
