Gas Work Horse runs great then quits
My gas EZGO starts easily, runs 10 - 15 minutes, but if I stop it won't start. I wait 10 - 15 minutes and it runs again like nothing is wrong. It did this 1 out of 5 times in the beginning and now it does it every time. It is serviced on a regular basis and has a new battery. I'm just learning to be a mechanic and don't know what to check.

Check the muffler it kinda sounds like a flow problem to me. I know on a larger scale [think chevy large] if you have an exhaust stopped up or partly stopped up it will run fine at first then drag down to shut off after a short while. Jim

I disconnected the muffler and it did the same thing (only louder). But it seemed to have more power. Can you clean a muffler or do you have to buy a new one?

Sounds like an ignition modular to me. They can stop working when they get hot.
Carry a spark plug wrench and insulated channel locks with you. When it won't run pull a plug, hold it against the motor head and crank. If no spark then the ignition is probably bad. Pm me if you want to try a good used one. |

Re: Gas Work Horse runs great then quits
The battery was dead this morning when I tried to check the spark, so I fully charged the battery and tested the voltage with the cart running. The voltage goes down to 11.6 volts while it's running then goes back to 12 volts when it's not running. Both plugs have a spark. The muffler seems to be working fine. Is it possible that this could cause it to not run, then it sits for a while and will run again?

12Volts is very low. A fully charged 12V battery is around 13.5V.

Re: Gas Work Horse runs great then quits
Thanks for replying. I just bought the battery and the charger a month ago, so it is probably the DVOM someone loaned me. I'll check it before I take the battery and charger back.
