Default Ignition key to lock out accessories

Does anyone have a good way to lock out accessories including headlights, horn, brake lights, etc using the ignition swith. Looking to eliminate the possiblity of leaving the lights on or having someone play with the lights without the key (i.e. get a dead battery). The power lead to the switch is a small gauge wire and I am not sure if the switch can handle the extra load of all the lights, etc.

Are you using a DC > DC converter? What type of cart do you have?

Are you referring to the ignition switch here? The easiest solution I could think of would be to run a relay off the ignition switch, and then run your accessories off of the relay. Relays draw minimal current so the "switch" should not have any issue carrying it.

-This is exactly what I do with my DS. Works quite well & I've never blow a fuse from it.

Thanks for the responses. Yes I am referring to the ignition key switch in the dash. A diagram with the relay would be great! And what relay you used. Thanks!

this is a very crude/quick drawing. Just about any off the shelf auto relay will work. And the terminals should be labeled almost identically to what I've drawn. Let me know if you need clarification in any/all of it.
