Re: Shorter Belts or 28 degree driven clutch?
I put the new belt on this weekend and it does seem to make a difference. Not a huge difference, but it is better. With such a slow cart, anything is something. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Shorter Belts or 28 degree driven clutch?
The cheapest way would be a "Vibra Tach", I'm guessing they are still under $20.00
It measures ANY motors RPMs gas or electric by the vibration harmonics of the engine. Actually, Because it uses vibration harmonics, you can determine the RPM's of anything that rotates. It just lays on the running engine and you turn the top part until the wire is vibrating at it's widest arc then read the scale on the dial. Briggs and Stratton repair shops use and can get them for you, B&S part #19200. I guess next would be one of the small tachs our sponsors sell. |

Re: Shorter Belts or 28 degree driven clutch?
I bought a tiny tach and replaced a clogged muffler at the same time. WOW that muffler was clogged! The cart is running so much better. Before I had to turn the governor all the on to get it to run right. Now the governor is all the way in and the motor would keep going smooth if something in the rear (driven clutch?) Didn't start making a crazy vibration/noise and make me lift off the gas every time. So, back to the tach...at the highest, I hit 4140 rpm. At cruising I am right about 3600. How does that sound? Too high/low? Thanks so much to everyone for all your help.
