Be carefule with that crank. You can use muriatic acid to clean the aluminum from the rod off the crank and then shine it up lightly with some very fine grit emery cloth.

Actually, the Scotchbrite pads were too mild. I had to move "up" to 600 grit. Even that's a little too mild for my patience. I use that on my windshield. My neighbor said he has some muriatic, so I'll try that.

Anyway, I'm gonna order a complete rebuild kit (gaskets and seals), and I'm gonna buy two rods.
