Re: Changing Brake Shoes
If its your first time just take one side apart at a time,That way you have the other side to look at in case you forget.

Re: Changing Brake Shoes
The 1987 electrics were manual adjusting shoes, not the auto adjusters shown in the picture above. I am not sure what the gassers used. If you have a adjusting screw on the back of the backing plate (7mm) you need a different method. Do you have the lever style or the screw?

Re: Changing Brake Shoes
Thank you for the info - I have not tore into them yet. I could not see any adjustment on the back of the plate.

Re: Changing Brake Shoes
Not quite true, remember prior to 1988 e-z-go electrics didn't have the star wheel auto adjuster. I don't have info on the gasser for 1987. My previous post should have asked if the OP had a 7mm adjustment screw or a star wheel and not "lever" my bad.... Iceman...on the back of your plate look to see if there is a rubber boot above the axle. The picture of the brake linkage shown a few posts above was only used in 1989 models I believe. I will post some pics tomorrow of what I think you have. These brakes in old carts get changed by owners over the years. For example in my 1988 with a 1987 rear I have 2009 Yamaha brakes imagine the confusion to the guy I sell it to
