Re: Ezgo trans
Here's the deal. The bolt that holds the clutch broke off inside the input shaft(gas ezgo).I got a hole started and when turning thr ez out I must have got it in the wrong position and it b roker off. I have tried everything and even ordered a special solid carbide drill bit and nothing will drill it. Pulled the unit and put it on bench but that doesn't help. Jim

Re: Ezgo trans
Not sure without seeing your problem, but sometimes I weld a bolt on to the stub & then able to remove broken bolt. Sometimes just the heat from welding will be enough to get it loose

Re: Ezgo trans
Grassman, you can take a die grinder and cut a slot(go slow and brace your hand steady)
across the end of the shaft and the bolt and the ez out. soak the bolt for a day and use an impact screw driver to back the bolt out. This is a ugly bottom 40 acres repair but it will get you ready for the next race. |

Re: Ezgo trans
Had to send rearend to a welder. Luckily I know na guy who has worked in oil fields for 35 years and knows the good guys. He said he could blow the bolt out of the shaft. I am really pleased with the response I received. I most definitely come back.
Originally the bolt came out of clutch and apparently I did not notice right away. So the clutch wobbled on the input shaft and ruined the spline in the clutch. When I reinstalled it wobbled and broke bolt. I will pay more attention in the future. |

Re: Ezgo trans
Got the trans back and looks great. Guy blew everything out of shaft and re tapped. Bolt fits perfectly. Cost me 30 bucka as opposed to 350 for a new input shaft.
I think I nam going to upgrade the mounting bolt from a five to a eight. any thought on that? And I read here to use 30W non detergent in trans. Where I live the weather is always warm. I'd like to put a heavier oil in. Any thoughts on that? Thanks. Jim |

Re: Ezgo trans
5 should be heavy enough... Just make sure it is tight/ not over-tight... 30w oil is good enough if you want to upgrade go synthetic not heavier in my opinion...... Glad we could help you save some $
