Default yamaha g1 fuel pump / vacume

hello i just put a new fuel pump on and im not sure about the hose that connects on the back of pump...anybody with info on this would be great... i put new pump on and turned over and nothing...put electric universal and tried that and fired right up??? but now it runs for a while and then i get off it and 5 mins later i will try to start and it only turns over??? would bad crank seals cause my fuel pump to not work??
