Default Need help identifying carb fitting

hey guys, new here and just bought a non-running 87 yamaha g1 2stroke.

Working on getting it running and was wondering what connects into the larger fitting right next to oil premix line? I tried posting a link to the photo but unable to since I'm a new member..Sorry.

Having issues with the fuel pump staying primed but want to make sure everything is plumbed correct before digging too deep.

Thanks for any help!!

No, looking for the fitting on the carb. right next to the oil intake line from the oil tank. It is on the passenger side of the cart.

When I got the cart nothing was connected there and having problems keeping it running. Something should be connected there but not sure what. can't find any other loose ends. from the way mine is hooked up the gas line is on the opposite side of the carb.

Should have clarified I was talking about the carb....sorry

So the fuel line from the pump hooks right next to the oil injection line?

This could be why it runs for a second and then cuts out. I'll re-run the line and report back.

Thanks for the quick responses!!

Ok so I hooked up the fuel line to the passenger side of carb right next to the oil injection line. The engine barely sputters and now gas squirts out of the vent fitting on driver's side of carb (where the fuel line used to be connected).

I looked at the fittings coming off the back of the engine on the block.
- Big fitting goes to fuel pump - GOOD
- Small fitting runs to a black plastic box mounted above the carb that says Yamaha. Other side of the box runs to the reed valve.
- My oil injection pump runs off the exhaust connected by a hose. Is that normal??

Looks like the PO crossed all the lines and that why this thing won't run. Just need to plumb everything back and everything should be good!! I checked the compression and it was 125psi so engine should be healthy.

Thanks for all the help!!

If gas is coming out the vent, you need to check your float setting, prolly to high or dirt under the needle& seat. need to remove the carb to do this. get some carb cleaner & clean the carb real good, to set the float hold the carb upside down & make the float level with the carb body. hope this helps !

Yeah, figured it was flooding. Took the carb apart and set the float level but it still floods. The previous owner must have lost the float pin and used a nail so there is a lot of play in the float. I think I'm going to just purchase an aftermarket carb and hopefully this will end my troubles.

Thanks for all the help!

Question Re: Need help identifying carb fitting

Sorry but I'm confused with the lines attaching to the carb. My G1 had the oil pump disconnected but the lines or fittings were never plugged or capped, lines were just pulled off. Motor seems to be running OK, but has problems under load which I assume relates to a clutch not very well taken care of. Is there a chart, diagram, or picture of the lines related to the carb and oil pump?
