1991 G9 Gass Yamaha
What will cause my 1991 G9 not to shut off when the key is turned on? It also takes a while before it will start. I have replaced the ignition and the battery. The choke must be pulled all the way out in order to drive it. I am assuming that the carb needs to be cleaned. Thanks

Re: 1991 G9 Gass Yamaha
The pedal switch controls the on/off long as the key is on, the key is power before the pedal. They can fail or get stuck with dirt or out of adjustment, pull the floor panel and check it. Try adjusting the idle mix screw out 2 turns or so, better yet in neutral adjust the carb mix and idle speed (the original carbs had those) so it idles really slow just faster than the starter. Then open the mix screw just a little. That usually makes them start the best. Also make sure the carb does not open before the starter works when you press the pedal.
