High octane fuel good to use?
I just did a tune up on my DS today - Wix oil filter, Mobil 1 syn, K&N air filter and new NGK BPR5ES plug (gapped to 0.02. I put 94 octane fuel in it. I don't know if it likes this fuel - felt kinda "sluggish". Should I just stick with 87 or 89...maybe 91 octane fuel? I noticed the gap on the plug I took out was 0.035.

.020" gap is really small. Stick with the .035".
If your motor doesn't require higher octane, because of higher compression or detonation issues, it isn't necessary. It will only cost you money. Higher octane fuel doesn't make more power. It just allows you to modify the motor to make more power. |

Re: High octane fuel good to use?
I ran premium fuel in my cart for about a year, with some of my mods, and K&N air filter, it fouled my spark plug! stock Kawi engines are incredibly finicky with their fuel/air mixture, I found for me... that it's best to use regular grade fuel! (per OEM requirements) my .02 |

I agree as well, but I gotta say .035" is a little wide. .028"-.032" is the range for the fe 290 I believe, I'd probably go .030".

Nah, just a little razzing.
I respect his opinion too much on engines to be too hard on him. |

Re: High octane fuel good to use?
You guys are hurting my feelings!
I agree with .030". .035" won't really make a difference, but .020" is too small. |
