Default Cart slowed to a creep

I have a 98 Ezgo DCS cart that I bought about a month ago for the hunting camp. Last weekend I put a couple miles on my cart and the cart lost probably 3/4 power and slowed to a creep and suddenly stopped. I recharged the batterys and seems to be fine when fully charged. I checked all the cables and they were tight but I noticed corrosion on two of the cables. I plan on replacing the whole set but was wanting some suggestions for the direction to go. The batterys are new Trojans that were put in just before I bought it. Manufacture dates on batterys are 2010. I was wondering if my controller went into protection mode and is going bad or could it just be the corroded cables that need replacing.

If the controller is going bad what is a good upgrade to go with. Alltrax DCX400? or DCX500? The cart is used as a hunting cart. Has small lift with 20inch tires with rear seat. Small hills nothing really too extreme, mostly flat gravel roads.

Thanks in advance for the help guys
