Default 1988 EZGO Marathon Throttle Setup

I am trying to figure out the proper throttle linkage setup for a 1988 EZGO Marathon gas cart. When we got the cart it had been changed and I was wondering what the proper setup is. Right now we have a cable going to the carb throttle arm with a stopper on the cable on each side of the arm. It works ok but this throttle is REALLY TOUCHY!!! The throttle barely cracked runs at least half throttle. Just hoping the correct linkage setup will help it. Thanks!

If your cable is disconnected, your throttle plate should snap wide open with a spring.

The cable holds the throttle closed when not in use. Stepping on the pedal allows the cable to slide through a hole in the throttle lever. That relieves tension, and the carburetor opens itself.

You should have a stopper on the end of the cable the second one was added to yours. Possibly because the carburetor wasn't opening itself.
There should also be a spring from an ink pen slid over the cable that goes between the lever, and the stopper.
That holds the lever closed long enough for the microswitch to make contact. It prevents backfiring, and gives a real nice throttle response that you are looking for.

These pictures are a 1987 with a BV-18 carburetor. Yours is a BV-24 with a different choke lever.
The 3pg engines have a completely different setup than ours.

Thanks for the help! That's exactly what I needed to know. This is what ours looks like right now. We'll get her setup correctly and see how it does. Thanks again!
