Default clutch belt

It is obvious that the belt broke. Son was driving cart and said that he heard a horrible noise in the engine compartment. I am having difficulty getting the belt free. I am trying to take off the outer nut to remove the outer sheave no matter what I do the pully continues to rotate is this normal? What might cause the belt to schread like this, to tight of a belt??

The nut should come off easily by holding the sheave and using an impact gun.

What belt was that?

Is that a "torque spring"? If so, why? It's absolutely unnecessary with the Vanguard.

You could also try cutting the belt off if it's already shredded. Just use some side cutter pliers/wire cutters.

The sliding sheave looks to be jacked way into the helix--that spring is REALLY compressed. Watch out!!

Is that nut a backward threaded nut. I can get it to budge with an impact. Torque Spring? are you referring to the one in the secondary clutch. I havent touched it i assume it is just a stock one. The belt was from Vegas Carts

It's a regular thread, not backward. If the spring is white, it's not OEM.

Anyone know where and what kind of motor pully belt to get. I had one come in from Vegas Carts but i think i want a better one and smaller one. I need 41 inch belt I believe.

Are you talking about the drive belt? I use a Dayco HD belt works great. There are many styles to choose from, but I like Dayco.

I bought this last one on ebay. But I have bought belts from CPP and Vegas Carts as well.

What length belt do you have? Part number? You can also wrap a seamstress tape around the pulleys to measure. Some have used a rope or string. If you have an adjustable engine cradle, set the engine up in the middle of the adjustment, that will give you some wiggle room.
