1994 Hyundai Gas
Good Morning America,
The cart Is a Hyundai Model HUG-1 XC1 Serial; 21113 with a Spicer differential 012aj130-2 / 06-09-94 / 0000105 There are two levers on the differential, one on the side facing front is the gear selector for forward and reverse, and the other lever is on the top and is connected to the differential and also the carburetor. What does the top lever do? Is it some kind of govenor and can I disconnect it? |

Yes the one on top, that is cabled to the carburetor, is the governor. Disable that at your own risk. Those little Suzuki engines were a little fragile even when new, much less after 28 years of use - and many of those engine parts are no longer available.

Re: 1994 Hyundai Gas
Hello meimk
The cart had a 7.5 Robin but smoked real bad, replaced it with an 18hp Duromax but was not sure what all the spring wire was for so I can eliminate that and go with the engine governor. I use the cart on my small acreage and the mailbox some 600ft up the hill, sounds like I am lazy but getting old has no benefits. Thank you for the quick reply Jim |

Ah, so the little Suzuki gave up long ago it seems. Yeah you can just use the governor on the engine. Enjoy!

Re: 1994 Hyundai Gas
I have to make a correction, the engine I just pulled out was a Suzuki. About this governor you say I can remove it if I do is there a certain spot I should park the lever?

Re: 1994 Hyundai Gas
It's been a little while since I worked on one of those, but most you can remove the arm & just leave the bare shaft alone. The internal parts of the governor shouldn't bother anything.
