Default Starting and spark issue

I have a yamaha g22 and it was working fine then one day it stopped starting. I checked it out and i found that my black/ground wire on the selenoid has 12v on it. Not sure where this could be geting power from but maybe a voltage regulator. Anyone ever seen this.

I can ground from battery and the cart turns over but no spark so i need to figure out why i have power on a ground wire.

I don't know yamaha carts well, but what you are seeing is normal. You will see positive on that terminal until the activation circuit is energised. It is most likely you have a break in the ground circuit somewhere and your lack of spark is likely to be a stop relay also not being energised. You may find a blown fuse on the negative supply. It could also be a bad wire that feeds these things with a ground. I assume that the ignition switch, pedal switch etc is good as you are getting positive to the solenoid. Someone who knows these carts should be along soon to confirm my thoughts or rectify them if I am incorrect in my assumptions.

On Yamahas the black ground wires are always ground. They’re not affected by activation circuit. Voltage on a ground wire is almost always gonna be a bad ground… which Yamahas are fairly common to have
