1979 Ez-Go Marathon with a 2-stroke Robins engine
Hello all, new to this. Recently accquired a 1979 Ez-Go Marathon with a 2-stroke Robins engine. Can anyone tell me what size battery (12 volt) goes in it? It has to be short enough for the air breather flex hose to go across the top of it. One more question, how can I obtain an owners/service manual ?
I really enjoy this site, everyone seems to be very helpful with great information. Thanks from Tulsa, OK. |

WELCOME to BGW okhutch!
Thats a good question. I need to know that battery size too. The one I have in mine is pushing the air filter...I finlly took the air filter off so I could fit the battery. |

Re: 1979 Ez-Go Marathon with a 2-stroke Robins engine
Hello okhutch, welcome to BGW!! I have a 1977 EZGO with the 2-stroke engine, which is the younger brother to yours! If I am not mistaken, the engine compartment design is similar if not identical from 76-79. If that is so, a standard 24 group (I think) should fit just fine. I use a marine deep cycle since i do a lot of starting and stopping and heavy draw from 4 55W lights and a radio occasionally while the engine is stopped.
To be sure, post a few pics of your 79 with a shot of the engine compartment! From there, I should be able to help a little better. Mitch |

Re: 1979 Ez-Go Marathon with a 2-stroke Robins engine
Just purchased a 90 model ez go with 2 stroke engine. Seems to take a long time to go into gear. If you let off the foot feed, it dies. What, where how do I start looking and fixing things. The big drive belt(I guess thats what you call it) looks good, but could it be not adjusted right? Help........Thanks

Best guess is a 70 series battery - thats's what most carts use. You just need to specify top or side post.
