What do you get on the controller side main solenoid terminal when solenoid is activated?

Here is a generic drawing of the High Current circuit only.
Easier to follow without all the control circuit wiring cluttering things up.

Pack voltage on the battery side of the solenoid, push the pedal to make it click and only getting 12v or so - it fluctuates, on the controller side main solenoid terminal.

I'm almost certain the solenoid is bad, but I'd make one more test, just to be sure.

Put a DVM lead on each of the Solenoid's main terminals.
Should read pretty close to battery pack voltage de-energized and 0V when energized.
If you get more than a few Milli-volts when energized, it's bad.

Thanks for your assistance. Got pretty close de-energized, and 20v or so energized. I will replace the solenoid.

You can crack open the solenoid and see if it looks like this. Mine became intermittent, but was completely unreliable.

20 volts means a 16 volt drop, so a lot of resistance and heat being wasted, if it even drives at all.

Did you repair yours by taking it apart yurtle? Mine looks like an HD version. The 4 post are all on top, two small and two big ones. My pack voltage is 39, so I am getting a 19v drop, and it is not moving.

I am going to see what my local dealers are selling HD solenoids for tomorrow.

Someone on here told me the Freedom models (mine) came with a beefier solenoids and controller.

I was able to repair it, but soon bought a used one, which I also killed. I upgraded to ScottyB's HD solenoid and it never gave me anymore problems.

If you want to be sure you don't have any other problems, you could connect a set of automotive jumper cables to the two large solenoid terminals, place it on jack stands. Apply throttle, then connect the two jumper cable leads to each other as soon as you hear the solenoid click. Wear safety glasses and only apply a little throttle, as it may spark.

I changed the solenoid and it runs like a champ. $80 for an HD one at my local supplier was well worth it, especially since we are looking at high 60's this week in Myrtle Beach.

Thanks for the help guys.
