Default g9

My buddy has a 1993 Yamaha G9 that's having some running issues. It has a lift with 22 inch tires, the engine has been rebuilt, both clutches replaced, new carburetor, new starter/generator. The cart will only do about 14 miles per hour without the governor hooked up and will barely climb a hill. We also noticed that the secondary clutch gets really hot and not really sure what's causing that.

The reason we disconnected the governor was to see if maybe that wasn't working right, we gained a little power and speed without it but not much. Just doesn't seem like it is getting the rpms needed to make any power

Call plowman's or gboost. Either can get your clutches & belt in better than stock shape in no time. Or, if your a cheapskate like me, just get a Kevlar belted drive belt and Yamahas G28 UMAX spring for some low buck improvement. Also, I avoid any stock style replacement belts not made by Yamaha, I have yet to see one that was as good as the real thing, thinner & flimsier. (I don't run stock style anymore, they were worn out in less than a year).

I'm not sure who they talked to but they did get the Kevlar belt and also an almond spring for the secondary clutch and also told to grind the weights down to a certain weight. Still nothing has helped. Has to be something else going on somewhere else

I did look at the receipts of all the engine parts that were ordered and the new clutches and I'm almost 100% sure they said gboost on them

I'd just knock down the tire size but I haven't had an issue with the 22" tires. Do you still have your tensioner cord hooked up?

Send a pic of the engine and a second put for the front driver side motor mount/nut. Posting pics make it easier for us to see everything and possibly point anything else out

After he lifted it he still had good speeds just wasn't very good at climbing hills, he has lost a lot of speed and climbing power and that's why he had the engine rebuilt and bought brand new clutches. The tensioner cord is there. seems like the engine isn't getting the rpms up where it needs to be. Could the exhaust be partially clogged to where it will only run lower rpms?

I would call Plowmans. I bet with the bigger tires its going to need some help to get up hills. Dons secondary kit is probably going to be the best upgrade for the cart for the money.

I have seen plugged mufflers. It's easy to check. Take muffler off & try to blow through it, a restricted one will be real obvious.
