Default Cart dead after use

I installed a new set of solenoids and a new starter generator on a friend's Yamaha g1. Everything seems to work well but after driving it around a while the cart is dead and don't start. I put a new voltage regulator in it too

Motor runs great, I just got it warmed up and unhooked the positive post with wheels up and running. My multi better says that the positive wire is getting negative and the negative side is getting positive. I'm currently looking into why.

Changed some wires around from motor and contactors. Now I have correct polarity but i get surges of 15 volts or so. Would reverse polarity burn up the new voltage regulator I put in?

15v is pretty normal golf cars charge a little higher than a car

Well it's causing the CD player to make the speakers pop in and out. Perhaps it's hitting higher numbers when we get it out on the road
