2 Wire SOC Meter
Just installed a 2 Wire LED meter on 2016 Yamaha G29. Need to figure out if I'm resetting meter when turning key switch on and off and not keeping accurate reading....
How I wired is: + To key switch to turn on and off indicator - To - terminal that runs to solonoid motor Wondering if positive should be wired from key switch to positive on first battery going to motor as well or just leave well enough alone. Thanks |

Re: 2 Wire SOC Meter
An LED 2 wire self power meter does have a reset feature. It's like your handheld meter. It just reads whatever it is hooked up to when that hook up is complete. Hope this helps

Re: 2 Wire SOC Meter
If it is a Curtis (or Yamaha OEM) 10-led bargraph meter, and it's hooked up with only 2 wires, you are resetting it to full every key cycle. If it's a digital volt meter, it's fine, only reads whatever is provided to it. If it's a eBay/Amazon "knock-off" 10-led bargraph meter, it's questionable no matter how it's hooked up. The 10-led bargaraph meters have a reputation of inaccuracy, and theyre only good when hooked to healthy batteries. Worn out, mismatched, and unbalanced batteries don't read accurately with the 10-led meter. This is why the digital volt meter is widely considered the best option.

Re: 2 Wire SOC Meter
I've attached image of what I purchased. Hopefully it uploaded correctly due to fact that I cannot post links yet.
Also when I apply gas pedal the voltage does show reduction. Just worried that Everytime I park and shut off key, when I turn back on it does not show accurate usage reading For example 48-50v on full charge After an hour or so of use turn key back on and reading 48v Guessing basically battery meters are only intended for a rough idea of usage |

Re: 2 Wire SOC Meter
That meter is fine hooked up how you have it. If you want to verify accuracy the way you have it wired, use your own meter to probe voltage at the main pack B+ & B- terminals, then do the same tests at the wires feeding your meter. If they read the same, you are good to go.
