Default 2017 Yamaha Drive controller

My Yamaha drive 48 volt runs 14MPH tops and the throttle pedal has much free play and then quick action in a short pedal distance. Does this indicate the need for a new controller? I have already replaced the speed sensor at the pedal.

AC version, or DC version (easy way to tell is "does motor have 4 long bolts on the outside?").

14mph sounds perfectly normal for a stock cart that doesn't have "PTV mode" enabled.

This was supposedly put on the computer and speed boosted up, but the big issue is the throttle travelling a long ways and then all of a sudden it takes off quickly. Hard to go slow. I have changed out the speed sensor to no avail.

Ok, there is a big sticker on the motor that says,"DC Motor". This is a 2017 Yamaha. but the tag says date of production is 2016. How hard is it to convert to an AC motor? I guess I have to also replace the controller.

You don't want to convert it, unless you want to spend big bucks! The DC model is capable of 19mph per Yamaha, someone your dealing with doesnt know what they are doing. Every one of those is capable of 19mph, if the PTV 19mph speed is unlocked.
