Default OHM Reading for 48v Trombetta Solenoid?

I have a trombetta 48v continuous duty solenoid from a G29. Someone replaced it, but I do not think it was bad as the wire from the fuse to the R/T was open. Replacing that wire solved the problem. Now I am wondering why/how the wire became open.

The Solenoid coil is reading 125 ohms, is that about the correct resistance on a 48v continuous rated solenoid?

If my memory/math is correct that would result in about .4 amps which I am guessing would not be nearly enough to burn/damage the wire.

Yep, your math is math. Gotta love real numbers. The coil ohms are not "out of range". Did you recently install a Alltrax controller? (If so, that fuse will now be a 10a fuse, and itll never be a problem again). Dont worry, the wires are plenty capable of a 10a fuse.

The original 3a fuse often works for a bit, until it doesnt. Put a 10a in there. Trust me on this one, been there & alltrax used to supply the 10a fuse. I suppose they didnt want to send 2 different new fuses? It's crazy how it works fine.......until it doesnt...

Seen this one too many times.

Just like they never sold an "official" DCX (and maybe XCT) for G22.

I was making DCX upgrades in YDRE (not your model) way before they offered one (they said 'what are you talking about, we never heard from you'). Of course, I was voiding all warranties, and I never turned In one for warranty due to my own "mods". In those days, I was just "waiting on them" to release the new model "XCT" which took forever (at least 1.5 years beyond oem estimate). 4 years slow in my mind of waiting, my mind. Had to prove it actually worked to one factory guy. He said "wait, that cant work".. I would never build another of those again, because its properly supported now (built them out of necessity only because no one else was doing it) and, I understood that the factory service manual was wrong, it is still treating the YDRE throttle sensor the same as the 0-5k G22 one.

Hope I'm not pissing anyone off, but it took forever & that's truth.

Cg,

Thank you so much for verifying that for me. This cart still has the wonderful Moric controller on it and a 10 amp fuse.

I did notice someone before me had spliced in a new fuse holder to replace the original one. I initially assumed the splices were bad, but they checked out and the break was after the second splice.

It just baffles me as to how that the wire would have broken somewhere in that loom which is still properly secured to the cart frame.

I am the world's worst at trying to figure out WHY something failed, instead of just fixing it and being happy, LOL.

Autopsy complete. Thanks to CG, BGW, and OCD, I found the issue.

There were TWO blade fuses in the wire to R/T. For whatever reason, someone had spliced in a SECOND one at the top right after the battery. It looks like the fuse that you would normally see on the lights.

The second fuse was 3 amp and per CG, it was blown. The wire itself was fine.

Wiring diagram only showed one fuse in the line, so I assumed the one at the top was that fuse.

Hopefully the 3 amp fuse just got tired and blew. However, I am beginning to suspect a larger problem and that fuse may have blown when they were trying to test (jumper) or replace the original solenoid which was not bad.
