Never tested one myself. I did have one go out and just replaced it. I had one rebuilt one time twice with continuous problems: ended up just replacing it with a new one. I don't mess with rebuilding them anymore.

You'll need a volt meter and it should read around 14 or so volts according to what I have read: smallblock is very knowledgeable on this subject.

While we are on electrical systems, be sure to ground every accessory you install directly to the neg post of the battery. Nothing should be grounded to the frame of your cart. It will blow the main 10 amp fuse if anything is grounded to the frame.

If it smokes, you have a different problem.

I ran mine turned all the way in for 4 years with no issues.
I wasn't planning on doing anything to the speed of the cart I just bought, but after seeing the picture you attached to that post I figured it was easy enough to give it a try. It really did make a difference! Thanks!!!

This is what I did to my Yamaha I ran easily at about 20-22 mph and had no issues. I could run almost 30 if I wanted to push the motor.

Nice post C.D.G.

I read that too. I've got some kids that will drive this at times so I don't want to get too crazy with it. I know I can hear the rpm's and know not to work the motor too much, but the kids would be a different story.

To test the charging system check the voltage at the battery with the cart off, then start the cart and check the voltage with the cart running, it should be higher.
