Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
Remember though on most G1's if you go over 5 your going to have to either notch the frame or bend it in where the rear clutch center is.

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
I am thinking of lifting my g14. I would like to do it myself, mostly because I am cheap but I would also like to say I did it. I know there a lot of you fab guys out there that from some of the pics I see do a really good job. Any suggestions for an easy homemade lift job? The above job looks pretty good. What are the pros and cons of doing it that way?

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
If you can measure and drill holes in metal center. Im the same way, trying to save money i wasn't going to pay 280$ for a lift kit, When i can make it myself. The front will be the hardest. You have to drop the shocks, make drop brackets for the A arms and stabalizer bars. In the back you just drop the top shock mount. Once you start it its not that bad. Im gonna post pics soon on mine. I have 4 new padde tires coming tomarrow

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
I don't know much about lifts. I understand how a spindle kit works. How does the a-arm type kit work? Are the a-arms longer and do they have bigger shocks? I have searched for the kits but all they show you is a pic of a bunch of parts. I am not looking for a great mudding vehicle, just something I can take a little off-road. Look forward to the pics!!

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
The A arm kit works 2 ways i believe. One is just a drop bracket, a piece of steel bolts to the frame where the A arms were. Then drop that A Arm down how far you want to lift. Some kits come with totaly different A arms that have a custom bend to go lower that stock A arms. But that is the kit
