Default Need Help W/ Connection to Igniter

Hi Everyone, Just picked up a G2 and it is not running because it has no spark. I am going through all the wiring for bad/loose connections. I found a red wire and a brown wire going in to the plastic connection which plugs in to the igniter to be broken off. How do I remove the metal pins from inside this plastic connection so that I can re-crimp these 2 loose wires? New to carts and any help would be greatly appreciated!

The pins come out usually by sticking a ice pick or like into, or around a hole or notch next to the pin. I don't have one in front of me, but someone will come by shortly that knows. But look at the connector, you may figure it out.
Good luck Mike!

I made life simpler by using an EZGO igniter on my Yamaha G2

Okay. Will send you tomorrow. It's night time in the Philippines. But I can describe it. There are 5 wires coming out of the EZGO igniter. The two right -hand most wires (igniter facing you) are colored black and R/W. These two wires are connected to the wires coming out of the pulsar coil. The B/W and goes to the Voltage reg. The white wire goes to the ignition coil. The last wire is W/Orange which goes to the solenoid.

In the Yamaha igniters, you must have a female plug which is plugged to the ignitor proper. If you lose this or if some pins are broken or misaligned, then you have a problem.

My G2 runs with only 5 wires connected to the ignitor as described above. I don't know why Yamahas have 7 pins and 9 pin-ignitors.

By the way, Hyundai also uses the same EZGO ignitor. It's simpler and cheaper.

still looking for tips on how to remove those stubborn pins inside of the connector.... also, when I press the gas pedal to turn over the starter generator, the starter generator keeps turning over even when i let off the pedal. I can only get it to stop when I flick the switch off. any ideas?

A volt meter is your best freind in diagnossing an electrical problem. You have 2 small wires on the solenoid. Black is ground, should have 12 volts plus (battery voltage) all the time. The red wire comes from the "stop switch" and it "energizes" the solenoid to get the starter turning. You may have a sticky stop switch or a bad solenoid. As for the wire harness problem....I'd buck and buy a new one...could be your problem anyway. Wire harness part # j38-82590-21-00 about 80.00. Some say make your own...Time is money, my shop rate is 85.00...Why take hours and still a "fabbed" wire harness for 80.00 and it's plug and play? Just my nickles worth, good luck Dave
