Default Melex jerks hard on take off

I just got a three wheel Melex 102 (IIRC) for free, I installed new tires and batteries but as soon as I step on the gas pedal the cart chirps the tires and tries to toss me out the back. Does the same in reverse. It has resistor things (coils) in the rear over the differntial but not sure how to check them out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

Found the problem, previous owner had the wires all messed up, nothing was right and it was wired to go full throttle all the time no matter the location of the gas pedal.

I re-wired it to a schematic I found and the cart is working properly now.

I now will be replacing all the wires with 4 GA.

The condition of the wires screamed fire hazard.

Glad to hear you are having some success with the old cart
Check the resistor coils for physical breaks when cold....
Take a good look at the speed wiper assembly. all contacts should be clean and free from any signs of arching due to uneven wear or misalignment & such.

You are right those carts will burn if not maintained... the F&R switch is another point of concern. It will all work as designed as long as it is all in good shape Holler if we can help.
