Yamaha G22 input shaft
I'm working on a 2004 G22 gasser. It is clean and runs well but only moves in reverse. I was told these have weak input shafts and the teeth for the forward gears often strip. Is this a common problem or should I look somewhere else before I rip out the transaxle and spend $700 on a new input shaft kit? The price was right on the cart but not if I have to pay that much for the parts to repair it.

Re: Yamaha G22 input shaft
I would start by looking at the shifter cable
make sure it engages in foward it could be jamed or seazed lift it up on jackstands play with the cable you can tell if the transmission engages |

Re: Yamaha G22 input shaft
The cables appear to move the shifter lever on the transaxle through the full range of motion from forward through reverse. I think whatever is wrong is inside.

Re: Yamaha G22 input shaft
Never been inside one, but could the shift fork be loose and sliding on the shift lever?
