steel will not eat up amps and give ya speeds its the same stuf in bat load testers and i belive it is called nickel plated cromium u can buy it in rolls on ebay dif diam s = dif resistence

We used to call it Calrod. It is used in electric rangetops and ovens, as well as toaster ovens, etc. If it was simply steel it would immediately short circuit, but because it is a composite it creates resistance and heat.

Thanx Gornoman,
I knew that resistor material had a name and you had it: CALROD!
Now I need to find a 7 or 9 gauge roll of about 10 feet!

I welded the resistor coil about a month ago and the Hyundai cart has been running flawlessly. Don't believe some of the above responders that it is some weird metal content or can't be fixed. It is very simple to weld or have welded.

Thank you for letting us know how you worked this problem out.... it is all theory until you weld up a resistor coil and test drive it for a month

Continued luck with it

P.S. They do still sell replacement resistor coils for some carts.

remember that coils job is to disapate extra heat so its gonna get hot .........thats it job............................
