Default TXT PDS Switchplate removal

The switch-plate containing the key-switch and Fwd/Rev switch is held in with plastic rivets. Is there some way of prying them out and reusing them, or do I just drill them out and replace with pop-rivets?

I'm replacing original two hole plate with one with an additional cutout for a vertical mount state-of charge meter.

Thanks,
John

use a nail or small punch and just push in on the center. If your lucky you may find the small insert if not just put the outer part back in and secure with 2 small screws.

Just drill them out and use stainless steel hardware,no fuss and easy to get to if needed.

Thanks for the info.

I'll use something like SS screws and Tinnerman nuts since reading other posts leads me to suspect the switch panel is the gateway for fishing wires into the dash area.

My first electrical projects are adding a SOC meter, 2-gauge wiring on battery/controller/motor and installing an on-board battery charger.
I'll probably add a couple SPST switches to make changing the PDS mode easy while I've got the controller cover off.
Mechanically it is a full width rearview mirror, seatbelts and a couple side baskets.

Other than that, I'm probably going to leave it pretty much stock, but you never know when the hotrodding gene might reemerge.

May as well wrap that buzzer while you have it apart as well. Just a couple spins with the electrical tape and its all good.
