what does this mean??
I was charging my batteries and I noticed water had leaked out of the tops of a couple of the batteries. I did have to put alot of water in them a few weeks ago. Did I just put too much in them or does this mean something else?

Re: what does this mean??
Possible,,, overfilling the batteries is common. the water lever should be 1/2 inch over the plates...
also, during charge feel the batteries, they should not be HOT. warm is okay,,if you feel the sides, you can sometimes note that just parts of them are hot, each cell works on it's own, and one cell can go bad. how old are the batteries? did you use destilled water? |

Re: what does this mean??
You should only fill the batteries after they have been charged! before charging make sure water just covers over the plates, then charge, then top up to the indicator that's in your particular batteries. If you overfill and lose electrolyte each time you charge, the batteries will be damaged. We used to run into this at the golf course I worked at. It was almost impossible to train a cart man that filling batteries didn't mean to the top!
